About the State Society

Welcome to The Minnesota State Society of Washington D.C. 

Washington is a great place to live and work, but sometimes it’s nice to be around people who know what “uff da” means and don’t blink when you call it hotdish instead of casserole.

The Minnesota State Society (MNSS) connects Minnesotans living and working in the Washington, DC area. Whether you grew up in the Land of 10,000 Lakes or simply developed an appreciation for Minnesota along the way, our community offers a way to stay connected to the culture, traditions, and people that make the state special.

Throughout the year we host a variety of gatherings, including social events, happy hours, sports outings, and seasonal celebrations. It’s a chance to meet fellow Minnesotans, catch up with friends, and build new connections here in the nation’s capital.

Membership is affordable, and both Minnesotans and honorary Minnesotans are always welcome.

Our mission is to:

• Foster a community for Minnesotans living in the Washington, DC area

• Promote pride in the State of Minnesota

• Encourage social, civic, educational, and charitable engagement
